If you are a student at Vanderbilt interested in joining our laboratory, it is really necessary to have a working knowledge of matlab. Vanderbilt has excellent online courses that you can use to learn the basics and become prepared for a career in cognitive neuroscience, as programming of stimuli and analysis scripts is used in every top laboratory around the world. Not every lab uses matlab, but the skills are transferable. This is the most important skill you will learn in the early part of your career, so jump in! https://www.coursera.org/learn/matlab


The Graduate Students

Alenka Doyle

Alenka is a graduate student coming to us from Trinity College where she has published a couple of first author papers and won a National Championship as a coxswain.

Ella Weeks

Ella started in the lab as an undergraduate student interested in how memory guides attention. She is pursuing her passion for cognitive neuroscience in graduate school starting 2026. Yay, Ella for getting into graduate school and hitting the ground running!


Current Undergraduate Students

Keyi Huang

Keyi started in the laboratory in the summer of 2026. She is working on projects measuring memory and attentional abilities across humans. She a second-year undergraduate interested in understanding the cognitive processes of attention in the brain. She plans to major in neuroscience with a minor in data science. In her free time, she enjoys playing music in an orchestra, eating good food, and taking walks in nature.

Molly Soukup

Molly is an undergraduate at Vanderbilt, who started working in the lab the summer before her 2nd year. Molly is interested in how the human brain uses memory to interact intelligently with its environment.

Rohan Vaish

Rohan is a junior and neuroscience major who joined the Woodman Lab to explore the cognitive and neural mechanisms underlying visual attention and working memory. He is particularly interested in how visual memory supports everyday behaviours such as driving, spatial navigation, and interacting with complex environments, as well as its role in creative imagination and the ability to mentally manipulate visual information.
